There is a close relationship between HR and administrative jobs. HR refers to Human Resources and as such is an administrative position in itself. In the position of Human resources, you are responsible for hiring new staff as well as supervising them to make sure they perform well in their duties. As such, when you obtain such a position, you are in a managerial position. There is no entry-level position for this type of job, so in essence it is a position that you must work up to within the organization or company. Of course, with considerable experience working with another company, you can get a job in this capacity when you apply to a different organization.

Since the position of human resources is an administrative one, there are certain requirements you must meet to get hired for this type of job. You do need a Master’s degree in either Human Resource Management or a related field. One of the requirements of the training for this position is that you have an interdisciplinary background. Although you won’t need to have in-depth knowledge of what each position in your company or organization entails you do need to have enough information for you to be able to recognize exceptional potential employees. You will be the recruiter for the company and you will need to consult with other administrative professionals when writing job postings for various positions. As part of this job there has to be an excellent relationship between HR and the senior administration. This is essential in order for the administration to accept your recommendations for new hires. Quite often the HR person has complete control over the hiring and firing process.

There is very little difference between HR and administration when it comes to the salary scale. Most companies have a salary for each level or certificate you complete, although there may be bonuses awarded for exceptional services. In the position of Human Resources Administrator, you will have to travel and therefore you may have an expense account from your company to pay for your expenses in this capacity. Some examples of the types of travel that you may have include traveling to various universities and colleges to hold job recruitment fairs and travel to meetings. When you do recruit new staff, the hiring process is usually shared between HR and administrative officials in the company. When interviewing for example, you would be present at the interview as well as the head of the department or the immediate supervisor under which this new staff member will work.

Hiring and recruiting are only part of the responsibility of HR and the administration may assign other duties for you to fulfill in this capacity. Some of the other roles and responsibilities you will have in the position of Human Resource Administration include working closely with all departments to ensure that all personnel adhere to the district or company policies, taking part in the preparation of a budget for your department, and investigating any complaints or concerns of the staff or applicants for various positions.
