Position Overview
\u2022 Maintain patient's safe passage in and out of the practice \u2022 Greet, assess and interview patients \u2022 Obtain past medical and surgical history, family history, social history, vital signs \u2022 Review present medications, allergy history, chief complaint, and brief interrogation of complaint \u2022 Act as a liaison between doctor and patient \u2022 Explain medication, side effects, treatments, diets, diseases and disease processes \u2022 Update medication list and current problem list \u2022 Prepare and assist patients for examination, treatment, or procedure by medical staff \u2022 Anticipate needs of patients, and the doctor under whom I work \u2022 Monitoring of patient during examination, or procedure \u2022 Maintain and update level of skill for pertinent medical assistant duties \u2022 Stocking of supplies as needed, and maintaining clean exam rooms \u2022 Respond to patient's concerns in person or by telephone while simultaneously documenting the problem \u2022 Maintains patient confidentiality \u2022 Participate in training and skills development of new medical assistants\u2022 Perform a variety of preliminary procedures, including phlebotomy, injections, throat cultures and more.\u2022 Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, check patients in and out for appointments utilizing our electronic internal practice management system.\u2022 Confirm patient information at the time of check in. \u2022 Complete \/ confirm insurance eligibility. \u2022 Answer front desk phone calls..\u2022 Explain financial requirements to the patient (s) or responsible parties and collect co-pays and past due balances as required.\u2022 Contact billing on behalf of patient to setup payment plans.\u2022 Assist to process in network referrals, work with other departments to setup appointments.\u2022 Ensure Worker's Compensation and MVA paperwork is completed for visits.\u2022 Maintain optimum customer service and patient confidentiality.\u2022 Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: \u2022 Medical Assistant Certification Preferred\u2022 Externship\/Internship within related healthcare practice preferred.\u2022 Must have current or very recent experience phlebotomy skills.
Skills and Abilities:\u2022 Excellent telephone communication skills. \u2022 Demonstrate ability to use computer systems.\u2022 Ability to draw blood \/ phlebotomy.\u2022 Ability to effectively communicate with patients, family members, providers and staff. \u2022 Demonstrate knowledge of various medical terminologies and technologies within out-patient healthcare.\u2022 Demonstrate knowledge of EMR preferred.\u2022 Demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA.\u2022 Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology.\u2022 Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff, providers and management.\u2022 Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.\u2022 Other duties as assigned.
