Miller Canfield, an international law firm, seeks an experienced legal administrative assistant/secretary for its Labor/Employment Law department. Candidate must have a high school diploma/GED, typing speed 65 WPM, proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and excellent computer, organizational & time management skills as well as attention to detail. Experience and knowledge of litigation practices preferred, including knowledge of e-filing and electronic billing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of litigation and other department documents and correspondence.
Transcription using digital dictation and prepare correspondence, memoranda and other legal documents.
Assist in the preparation of Firm invoices with the centralized billing department.
Become familiar with legal procedures and proprietary software relating to lawyers to whom assigned, including performing caseload and database management, working and manipulating pdf files, and providing support as needed.
Maintain and docket court dates, manage calendars, and mail for assigned attorneys.
Ensure that all work is professional, organized and accurately prioritized.
Post conflict of interest checks and open files.
Provide back-up support for other legal assistants in the group/office.
Process attorney reimbursements and expenses, including making travel arrangements, conferences, seminars, and other appointments.
Other tasks as assigned by attorneys and/or office manager.
Maintain good public relations with clients and observe confidentiality of attorney‐client relationship.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Minimum of 3 years of legal secretarial experience preferably in litigation or labor/employment practice groups.
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
Knowledgeable about e-filing and electronic billing.
Flexible team player who enjoys a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills.

Ability to analyze and solve problems.
