Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen is seeking a 1L law student for its Ida Platt Legal Fellowship, named in honor of Ida Platt, the first African-American woman admitted to the Illinois bar. The fellowship is a full-time, paid position within our firm’s Chicago office that will last approximately ten weeks over the course of the fellow’s rising 2L summer. Outstanding fellows will be invited to return the following summer as a full-time summer associate eligible for a permanent, full-time attorney position with our firm upon graduation from law school.
Skills and Qualifications:
We are seeking talented, self-motivated law students with strong academic credentials, excellent writing and research skills and a deep commitment to and interest in affordable housing and community development. We strongly encourage diverse candidates to apply, as the firm values diversity, equity and inclusion.
Responsibilities:
Fellows will gain meaningful exposure to our firm’s practice over the course of the summer. Fellows will work closely with our firm’s attorneys to assist with complex real estate closings, draft related legal documents, research regulatory and case law matters and provide general administrative support. Fellows will also participate in several training programs and practice group meetings.
