Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) is a not-for-profit, U.S. Coast Guard classified organization, formed in 1990 to provide oil spill response services and mitigate damage to the environment. MSRC’s capabilities help meet the planning criteria established by the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.
MSRC is currently seeking a Human Resources Administrator (HRA)
to work in our Concord, CA or Everett, WA
location. The successful candidate will provide HR leadership for the Pacific Region and be part of a highly professional, team-oriented organization in alignment with the Corporate Human Resources team. Region employees are based in California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington. The position is a direct report of the Pacific Region Vice President and works in conjunction with Corporate Director of Human Resources. The position is both strategic and transactional in nature, and requires a broad range of skills, diplomacy, and hands-on efforts.
Primary responsibilities of the HRA are to:
Orchestrate all stages of the employee lifecycle to enhance and maintain a competent and productive workforce for MSRC.
Manage multiple, detailed employee transactions simultaneously in accordance with company policies, guidelines, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Cultivate efficient recruitment sources, interview process, and candidate selection.
Conduct effective and educational on-boarding and orientation programs for new hires.
Facilitate accurate communication for performance expectations and management.
Resolve and mediate conflicts in a professional and impartial manner, while ensuring appropriate Corporate HR interface.
Process terminations in a timely and competent manner.
Regularly provide subject-matter expertise while ensuring compliance with MSRC policies and programs.
Provide training as needed to employees.
Demonstrate leadership in implementing HR initiatives in support of MSRC goals.
Develop strong relationships across leadership team and become a trusted advisor to employees.
Display high levels of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion in professional relationships and behaviors.
Facilitate and participate in annual performance appraisal and merit process.
Required and daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
Execute and support spill response activities, including cascading personnel, job tickets and spill timesheets.
Participate in Corporate HR initiatives and requirements.
Organize and maintain accurate employee files.
Administer medical surveillance and drug testing programs.
Coordinate employee requests for leave of absence.
Schedule and facilitate regional training and HR outreach.
Ensure and educate employees on accurate and timely completion of timesheets and use of HRIS.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in human resources management or related discipline preferred, with substantial relevant experience considered.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
7 years’ experience in Human Resources.
Travel as required by business need.
Ability to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as required for oil spill response.
Knowledge of California HR regulations and practices.
Excellent communication at all levels.
Current, strong technical skills across a variety of on-line platforms.
Exceptional organizational skills with an ability to prioritize important projects.
Advanced MS Office skills, HRIS expertise (UltiPro a plus).
Proof of COVID-19 Vaccine.
