Profile

Description:

Be part of a transformation of the student experience at the University of Plymouth. The Student Hub has been a huge support to our students since it opened in January 2020 and we are excited to be expanding our team to ensure we can continue to provide an effective, front-line support service for the Student Services department. Through this service, we are streamlining access to student support, delivering a service that allows students to receive advice on a range of enquiries in one place, which is incredibly easy to find, both online and on campus, and to receive this advice when they need it. Providing a first-stop shop for student enquiries, the Assistant Advisors provide a single gateway for students to access information, advice and support on a wide range of student life, wellbeing and learning issues. This happens in-person, online and over the phone, including topics such as finance and funding, international student experience, mental health, wellbeing, disability support, learning and skills development. You will have experience of working in a busy, customer services and Student Services environment, and of office administration. You may be expected to work with people who are upset and confused so you will be able to handle this sensitively and have the ability to problem solve. We are looking for candidates who are able to help us to deliver a student-focused, professional, friendly and efficient student service. We would like a candidate who is confident in delivering presentations to share awareness about the Hub to students and staff. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. For an informal discussion to find out more about the role, please contact Olivia Marshall by email at olivia.marshall@plymouth.ac.uk or call 01752 587668. Alternatively, please contact Claire Chinnock at claire.chinnock@plymouth.ac.uk or by telephone on 07976812619. Interviews are likely to take place on the week commencing 16th January 2023 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. This is a part time position working 29.6 hours per week on a permanent basis. Applications from candidates wishing to job share will be considered. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth. Employees of the University of Plymouth Services Limited work alongside the University of Plymouth colleagues in delivery of Plymouth’s strategic vision, and will adopt the University of Plymouth’s HR policies and procedures in full unless otherwise stated. The University of Plymouth is a diverse, welcoming community where everyone makes a difference and is encouraged to bring their whole selves to work. To find out more about our inclusive community, initiatives such as Athena Swan and the Race Equality Charter and our range of benefits / support mechanisms such as flexible working, staff networks and enhanced maternity, paternity & adoption leave please visit our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion webpages We particularly welcome applicants from under-represented groups such as BAME/BIPOC and LGBT .
