Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. is looking for a Paralegal to support the Firm’s attorneys primarily in its Austin, TX, office. We seek a career-oriented individual with experience in supporting attorneys in busy litigation and regulatory compliance practice groups. Strong project management, research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communications skills are required for this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work directly with client and technical consulting counterparts on integrated legal and technical negotiating teams to prepare data and project submissions to government entities as part of complex enforcement and permitting matters
Attend state and federal agency public meetings and hearings; create summaries thereof; conduct research and monitor agency developments and websites, and coordinate open records information requests and filings
Review legal documents and conduct factual research and analysis
Manage e-discovery; manage electronic files for responding to information requests
Proofread, check accuracy of quotes, and cite formats in legal documents
Review local court rules and identify filing requirements
Conduct electronic and paper filings with court
Assist in preparing reports, affidavits, correspondences, declarations, and complaints
Assist attorneys with preparation for depositions; attend depositions; prepare deposition digests
Assist attorneys with trials, mediations, arbitrations, or other forms of ADR
Monitor and review legal publications and trade press for tracking regulatory developments
Enter billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner
Other appropriate duties such as support for practice groups, marketing, and other departments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Strong proficiency in Excel; computer proficiency, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Familiarity with major ediscovery platforms such as CasePoint, Relativity
Knowledge of electronic filings (state and federal), as well as court rules and procedures, litigation terminology, and documentation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Flexibility to work late and travel (locally and nationally) as needed
Ability to retrieve and distribute print volumes, push and pull packages and books weighing up to 30 pounds, and ability to retrieve objects from shelves of up to 8 feet high and replace same
Paralegal certificate a plus
