Position Role and Summary
The patient services specialist is responsible for the operations and administrative responsibilities in the OBGYN practice of Dr. Edmond. In addition, provides general administrative, billing, and clerical support in aspects such as patient documentation, Electronic Medical Record (EMR). This position will assist the office manager in developing, coordinating and leading a variety of activities and projects.
A. Duties and Responsibilities
Greets patients in a timely and polite manner, may it be in person or over the phone; accurately collects, records, and updates patients' data and inputs them to the EHR/EMR system.
Schedules and confirms patient appointments and meetings; provide reminder calls to patients prior to their appointment date.
Runs, reviews, and works on various billing reports as assigned; collaborates with the billing department in addressing billing issues.
Assists in returning phone calls to patients, family members, or other health care professionals related to billing and/or insurance questions.
Follows all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and confidentiality guidelines.
Establish work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability.
Keep records & provide a monthly report

Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills (multilingual preferred).
Ability to work independently.
Ability to multitask and use a variety of office equipment (multi-line phone systems, office email, fax machines, photocopiers, scanner, etc.).
C. Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; preferably has an associate's or bachelor's degree in medical billing and coding or any related field.
Must possess at least 2 years of healthcare and/or outpatient clinic experience or has verifiable working experience working in a medical practice.
Must have relevant experience in using EHR/EMR for a minimum of 1 to 2 years.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and its applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Must have in-depth knowledge of healthcare and insurance terminologies and practices.
