Job Description

This position's primary responsibility is to provide support to the department chairs on the fiscal management of the departments' operating budgets. The occupant will work with the Office Managers/Receptionists and budget unit directors to ensure the prompt and timely processing of procurement paperwork (LPOs, requisitions), receiving reports, travel and other reimbursements, and hiring and compliance paperwork in accordance with the policies of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Office of Finance.

Considerable knowledge of general office procedures. Working knowledge of information systems and computer software that includes Microsoft Office products. Uses effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Some knowledge of math, bookkeeping and/or accounting principles. Displays effective oral and written communication skills as well as effective organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets. Demonstrated ability to manipulate data, produce reports and prepare correspondence. Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and effectively with students, faculty and other University personnel.

Some knowledge of ODU and Commonwealth of Virginia policies and procedures. Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field. Some experience with BANNER General Campus, Student Access, Accounts Payable LPO Processing, Accounts Payable, Vendor Payment Research, Budget Query, and Chart of Accounts Validation. Experience working in higher education.
