Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus two (2) years of experience in sign maintenance, sign repair, creation, printing and modification which may include one year of operating heavy equipment.
Licenses or Certifications:
Current Texas Motor Vehicle Operator License appropriate for vehicle(s) operated or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position, through the utilization of various software, is responsible for duties related to the creation of and maintenance of various decals and signage used throughout the AUS Facility, to include FAA regulated signage. This position will also be responsible for the creation of and maintenance of decals and markings on various types of vehicles and equipment owned by AUS (City of Austin). Will regularly communicate with internal and external customers in order to exact specifications and signage logistics.
ASSESSMENT
A skills assessment will be required for this position.
DRIVER'S REQUIREMENT
This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA .
This position requires a Current Texas Motor Vehicle Operator License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite
. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City's Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience and a working knowledge of specialized computers, scanners, software, plotters, silk screening equipment and engravers. (Assessment)
Experience in designing/creating decals. (Automotive, street signs and general sign making)
Experience in installation, and removal of lettering and decals on signage and/or vehicles.
Experience interacting directly with customers and providing a high level of customer service
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1. Utilizes various software to design and create departmental street signs, terminal signs, advertising/promotional signs, and traffic and directional signs.
2. Repairs and maintains departmental street signs, terminal signs, advertising/promotional signs, and traffic and directional signs.
3. Researches proper sign specifications to ensure adherence to all traffic and safety regulations.
4. Communicates with internal and external customers for exact specifications and signage logistics.
5. Resolves signage related complaints/issues.
6. Operates equipment to create, transport, and install signs, i.e., forklifts, bucket trucks, hand tools, plotter, scissor lifts, and auger drills.
7. Reviews, analyzes, and completes work orders.
8. Assists departmental divisions in regards to designing and creating signs, scoreboards, etc.
9. Performs administrative duties such as documenting requests and other information, copying and faxing documents, corresponding via email and tele**** or TTY (512) 974-2445.
