The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Health Sciences Center at New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Dentistry.
Founded in 1968, the LSU School of Dentistry (LSUSD) is a vital component of the Louisiana health care system, which has trained three out of four dentists and dental hygienists currently practicing in the state. It is the state’s only dental school. The school maintains DDS, dental hygiene and dental laboratory programs, as well as specialty advanced education programs in the fields of Endodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics and Prosthodontics. The school’s clinics provide care for approximately 12,000 patients per year, and host over 45,000 annual patient visits. Total dental school enrollment is approximately 380 students, and the school retains 80 full-time and 50 part-time faculty.
LSUHSC-NO is the State of Louisiana’s flagship university educating the state’s health care professionals. LSUHSC-NO is a leader in providing academic support and research for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing health care professions. In addition to dentistry, LSUHSC-NO’s other schools include medicine, dentistry nursing school, allied health professions, the graduate school, and public health.
The School of Dentistry seeks an inspirational and accomplished professional to serve as its next leader, working closely with students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders to maintain and grow LSUSD’s reputation for excellent clinical care, education and research. Reporting to the Chancellor of LSUHSC-NO, the Dean of the School of Dentistry is the chief executive and academic administrative officer of the School. The dean is responsible for the vision, strategic planning, policy development, and academic, fiscal and other business activities of the School. Candidates must have a DDS, DMD, or PhD in a relevant field, 5 years of administrative experience, and be eligible for a tenured faculty appointment at LSUSD. The Dean will be a person of the highest integrity with a collegial style and exemplary communication skills.
