General Statement of Duties:
Provide walk-in and scheduled support for international students regarding F-1 status and reporting obligations. Serve as the initial contact for students considering studying away. The successful candidate will demonstrate: solid knowledge and experience in advising international students; excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; cross-cultural competence; and a collaborative approach to working with students, faculty, staff and international partners to ensure excellent advising, planning and program implementation.
Responsibilities:

(E) Demonstrate experience serving as the Designated School Official (DSO), maintaining student records in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and advising international students on complex U.S. immigration regulations and procedures related to employment, travel, change of status and reporting obligations.
(E) Demonstrate knowledge of the Federal Code of Regulations (CFR) as pertained to International Students and Scholars advising.
(E) Assist with the development and implementation of advising materials, student information sessions, study abroad fairs and faculty workshops.
(E) Coordinate and plan programs which support the social and academic integration of F-1 students to enhance student retention.
(E) Ability to advise individuals of diverse backgrounds with various levels of English proficiency.
(E) Assist with orientation programming, Open Houses, Congratulations Day, International Education Week planning and all other events.
(E) Act as liaison to DGCE and the Office of Admissions regarding international applicants and support.
(E) Demonstrate ability to liaise with faculty and staff regarding international student study and employment requirements and provide necessary resources.
(E) Maintain working knowledge of University computer systems including Image Now, and Colleague.
(E) Manage social media accounts.
(E) Provide some evening and weekend coverage.
(E) Ability to manage budgets, track student payments, and make budgeting predictions.
Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan.
Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
U.S. citizen or permanent resident, as mandated by federal regulations for F-1 DSO eligibility.
Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, listening and cross-cultural communication skills.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience living, working or studying abroad.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, professional APA position. The firm starting annual salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000, commensurate with relevant professional experience and education.
