Job Description:

General Summary:

This direct services, supervisory, and leadership position is involved in a wide range of Student Counseling Center (SCC) activities. This position provides a range of therapy related services to SPU undergraduate students, and clinical supervision to professional interns and externs. This position will be called upon to provide assessments and interventions, in particular for male students with behavioral concerns. Is a member of the Clinical Supervisors Team contributing to SCC problem solving, decision-making, and planning. Coordinates and presents mental health and relationship focused co-curricular programming on campus. Attends Office of Student Life and SPU events as required. Upholds SCC and SPU policies and procedures, applicable state and federal laws, including FERPA and state laws governing the counseling profession. Adheres to relevant professional ethics. Attends regular supervision and SCC staff meetings and trainings.

Essentials of the job:

Provides individual, couple, family, and group counseling services.

Conducts counseling assessments and provides referral services.

Provides crisis intervention services.

Provides clinical supervision to interns, externs, or staff.

Attends and participates in SCC 1:1 supervision, staff meetings, and trainings.

Contributes to Clinical Supervisor Meetings and Consultations.

Provides after-hours mental health emergency on-call service

Participates in SCC co-curricular events and activities in the wider SPU community.

Participates in OSL, SPU, and SCC events as expected and required.

Responsible for creating and leading campus outreach and prevention programs.

Requirements:

Master's degree in marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, social work, or a doctorate in clinical psychology.

Two years post-graduate clinical experience.

Licensed as a LMFT, LMHC, LICSW, or Clinical Psychologist.

Personal commitment to and ability to articulate SPU's Christian mission (see: Statement of Faith).

Preferred qualifications:

Experience serving culturally and socioeconomically diverse populations.

Experience counseling adolescents and/or college students.

Experience assessing mental health and substance abuse treatment needs of young adult men.

Licensed as a marriage and family therapist. State Licensed for at least two years and 25 hours experience providing clinical supervision.

Is either an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, in the process of becoming one, or is willing to start the process.

Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled.

This is a part time position, working 20 hours per week, 10 months a year. Typical annual appointment is August 20 to June 20.

Salary: $30.00- $32.00 hourly

This is a part time position with available benefits. SPU will pay a portion of the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and to a retirement account after one year of eligibility in the plan.
