Position Summary
The Center for Human Resources provides exemplary and customer-focused human resources services in support of the university and enhancing the campus environment to support faculty and staff. The Center for Human Resources is comprised of five service areas: Benefits Services, Human Resources Services, Employment Services, Labor and Employee Relations, and Payroll Services, all of which are supported by the Director's Office and Human Resources Information Systems.

Working closely with and reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Confidential Administrative Specialist provides a full range of administrative support to the Center for Human Resources. Core duties include reception, calendaring and calendar management, document preparation and editing, maintaining and monitoring departmental budgets, coordinating purchasing and payment activity, coordinating departmental travel, and attending to the administrative needs of other departmental programs and activities, including records management, training compliance, and conflict of interest administration.
The Confidential Administrative Specialist works in a confidential, dynamic, fast-paced, and highly interpersonal context. They provide relevant support to all CHR team members and engage with colleagues at all levels across the university and CSU system.
Due to the nature of Human Resources operations, the Confidential Administrative Specialist will have access to confidential information relevant to disciplinary and collective bargaining matters. They will also be involved in researching and collating information for Requests for Information and grievance processes.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on-campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced foundation of knowledge of the principles of organization, administration, and the ability to analyze and find solutions to problems, work independently, communicate effectively, and write clearly and concisely.
This would normally be demonstrated through a Bachelor's degree in a related field and three to five years of administrative support experience OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Preferred Qualifications
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in a position requiring a high degree of judgment, discretion, and initiative to coordinate activities associated with a management office
Calendar management experience
Demonstrated experience providing a high level of service and professionalism to all customers
Experience with Oracle Financials, Adaptive Financial or similar systems
Experience working within the California State University system
SDSU budget coordination experience
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Experience with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Calendar, and Gmail.
Experience with video conferencing software. (i.e., Zoom, MS Teams, and Google Meet)
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $5,425 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Salary Range: $4,464 - $9,514 per month
SDSU COVID-19 Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of a two-shot vaccine or two weeks after the first dose of a single-shot vaccine.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
